Looks like some people/places are starting to pick up the 2.1 release announcement; I happened upon this mention of us taking it to MS in support of cross-platform goodness Wink A few little inaccuracies here and there, as always, but on the whole a nice bit Smile

HardMac and MacBidouille also got in the act.

(And I wonder where the "The user will have the choice between both format, Open Document (plug-ins for Microsoft Office will be available) and Open XML compatible with Microsoft Office or OpenOffice." sentence that everyone's repeating comes from? Of course there will be a choice of document formats; there's always been one (StarOffice, OpenOffice.org 1.x, OpenDocument, MS Office, and now MS OpenXML), and the MS Office filters have always shipped as part of Neo/OOo, no extra "plug-ins" available needed....)

The OpenDocument plugin comment, I believe, is probably referring to the plugin that is in the works for Microsoft Office on Windows:

http://odf-converter.sourceforge.net/index.html

That forms the same base as the ooo-build code that we're using. It was the "winning" solution for the Massachusetts decision to go with OpenDocument as the format but Office as the editing solution.

I've not seen mention anywhere of projects integrating it with Mac Office, however. At this moment, on Macs it seems using OpenDocument limits your choices to OOo, Neo, Abiword, and it's been rumored that there may be support in a forthcoming TextEdit.

Using either OpenDocument or OpenXML really limits your choices. The real lingua franca is the old-school binary Office formats (without the x!) and that will be the case for some time to come. Or of course, plain text...
