|
With the advent of some fun development tools I've quickly hacked together a small Dashboard widget for keeping track of the Trinity fora. Although I personally loathe Dashboard widgets, I couldn't resist the temptation to write one The widget can be downloaded here:
http://trinity.neooffice.org/downloads/trinity_ground_zero.zip
The widget is nothing but an RSS reader, the same as in Safari (go reusable design Apple, yay!). By default the widget will display postings in all of the trinity fora. On the flipside of the widget (go looking glass ripoff!) you can choose to see only News postings (things that go on the trinity frontpage...which are major release announcements and other PR kinda stuff) or only new postings to topics in specific fora on the server.
Have fun kids! Post suggestions here and, if anyone wants to adopt further development of the dashboard widget (since I've got some other pressing things coming up shortly ) feel free to holler. The source for the widget will be made public as soon as certain legal restrictions are lifted. Trust me, it's nothing stellar.

As always, use "openssl md5" if you want to verify authenticity. For the version 1.0 posted 12/29/06:
Code: |
MD5(trinity_ground_zero.zip)= e3d02753bbe38abe56c02819ff307603

Thanks for this widget. It works very well Ed: will probably use it often instead of launching into trinity every time I want to check on new items.

You can of course use the same RSS feeds with any full-featured RSS reader (including Safari)...the widget just embeds all of the URLs for the various fora.
