Have a look at Tools -> Options -> NeoOffice -> Language Settings -> Writing Aids -> Options.
You should have some options checked there (but some should be checked by default).

Under language settings: The default language for documents is set to French
Under writing aids: everything seems to be checked
Available language models:
1: OpenOffice.org Hunspell Spell Checker
2: AltLinux LibHnj Hyphenator
3: OpenOffice.org New Thesarous
User-defined dictionaries
1 standard (all)
2 soffice (all)
3 sun (all)
4 IgnoreAllList (all)
Anything that's missing or need to be unchecked?
Thanks for the quick response by the way... |

Click the "Edit" button next to this section and select French (France) from the drop-down in the next window. Make sure French (France) has the "abc + checkmark) next to it, and that "OpenOffice.org Hunspell SpellChecker" has a check next to it below.
If it still doesn't work, try moving your ~/Library/Preferences/NeoOffice-2.x folder aside, launching Neo, and re-installing the French dictionary. There could be some preferences corruption going on

Any idea? _________________ NeoOffice 2 - G4 1,33Mhz, 512Mo |

When you installed Neo 2.0 Alpha for the first time, did you have Neo 1.2.2 installed? If so, you may have an old format dictionary file still in your installation.
Check your /Applications/NeoOffice.app/Contents/share/dict/ooo folder and see if there are any files with a name starting with "fr_" or "hyph_fr_" or "th_fr_". If so, try deleting those files and relaunching NeoOffice.

Yes, I had NeoOffice 1.2
Well, in this folder, I 've many languages, but nothing with "fr" : may be it's the source of the problem? _________________ NeoOffice 2 - G4 1,33Mhz, 512Mo |

Have you installed Neo 2.0 Aqua Beta 3 yet? If not, can you trying installing that and also install the French language pack?

Sorry, it's a misunderstanding : I had NeoOffice1.2, but I put it in the trash before I installed NeoOffice 2 and with NeoOffice2, I encountered this problem with spellchecking
I tried to put also NeoOffice1 preferences in trash and now I have the "ABC +" next to French (France).
But to keep the french preference during spellchecking, I've had to check "french" in the language general option.
So, it seems to work fine.
Et bravo pour votre excellent travail! _________________ NeoOffice 2 - G4 1,33Mhz, 512Mo |

Just a subsequent problem : doing so, I lost all NeoOffice1 preferences.
Are there someones I can simply copy and past in NeoOffice2 pref.folder? _________________ NeoOffice 2 - G4 1,33Mhz, 512Mo |

Not that I know of. The import of preferences is done by the OpenOffice.org code and I am not sure what method is necessary to merge the preferences.
Edit: what you may want to try is delete you NeoOffice-2.x preferences folder, move your NeoOffice-1.x preferences back to its original location but remove the user/workbook subfolder with the NeoOffice-1.x preferences. Then launch NeoOffice and import your preferences.

I did exactly what you suggested above, and it works fine.
Thanks a lot. _________________ NeoOffice 2 - G4 1,33Mhz, 512Mo |

|
Hi,
I've read the posts above, but i didn't solve my problems.
My config : NeoOffice patch 6
I've downloaded the French Language Pack, installed it.
I've put my pref folders to trash, looked for any NeoOffice pref file and trashed it.
I've trashed everything that had "neooffice" in it's name, and re-downloaded all the packages, patched it with patch 6, installed the french language, but it doesn't work...
When I go to the Dictionnary section in preferences, I never see any French language appearing.
Any idea ??? |

Les dictionnaires installés par l'assistant sont situés ici :
/Applications/NeoOffice.app/Contents/dict/ooo
Il y a trois fichiers
fr_FR.aff
fr_FR.dic
hyph_fr_FR.dic
Si ces fichiers ne sont pas présents, il faut réinstaller les dictionnaires à l'aide de l'assistant.
Fichier > Assistants > Installer de nouveaux dictionnaires…
The Wizard installs the dictionaries in the folder
/Applications/NeoOffice.app/Contents/dict/ooo
If the three files fr_FR.aff, fr_FR.dic, hyph_fr_FR.dic,[EDIT:are not present ] you have to reinstall them.
