|
Good morning,
I'm new user of neooffice, from the very first moments quite impressed by overall functionality of your open software. therefore I have decided to be an early access subscriber.
Can you pls. help me with following?
I have problem with conversion of text to numbers in calc. For your explanation I have soma tables which were converted from .pdf, therefore all figures appear there with sign '1234, which is not reckognized as number but as text, therefore I tried to use some tipical MC Office hint, select area of text-numbers, find symbol *'* and replace it by nothing, which should result into deletion of all text symbols and conversion of text to numbers
In neooffice call this approach does not work. can you help me to find some alternative solution?
Kind rgds

Find and Replace works somewhat differently in NeoOffice than in Microsoft Word.
Try reading through this page of our wiki.
I particularly reccomend the link there to the OpenOffice.org Migration guide section on the same topic. |

Welcome Martin,
You can use the "Value" function to replace a text with a number.
Example: Let's suppose that cell A1 contains a text '23
Select an empty cell B1 on the right of the cell A1.
Click on the icon of the Function Wizard on the left of the formula bar, choose Value in the category Text. Then click Next and click the cell A1 containing the text '23, and click OK.
The number 23 appears in B1.
If you want to convert a cell range, you can use the Fill function as described in the wiki
Hope that helps

Oops ... I was about to reply to this topic but a sudden build problem surfaced, and I completely forgot this thread.
It's probably just as well : I didn't know the answer |

Yes. NeoOffice wouldn't build ("Permission denied"). I suspect that MacDrive has changed some permissions on my HD (see my thread in Random Whatnot), but I changed them back and now it works |
