Is there any relationship between movie file size and the ability to open the movie in NeoOffice?

FWIW, I've been able to insert a ~380 MB video in NeoOffice |

I found the cause of this. I need to URL encode (such as replace spaces with "%20") the file name before I hand it to the Apple APIs. I'll include the fix in the next test patch.

I rename the file Neige_en_Octobre.mov and it opens fine in NeoOffice.

I can now select all these different types and successfully insert them into both a Writer document and an Impress document (at least .wmv, .mov, and .mp4, I don't have any .m4v).
Thanks |

One note about .m4v files: if they are protected files, you will be able to open them, but the movie will just show black when played. This is due to Apple's DRM protection in such files and from what I understand, only QuickTime Player and iTunes will be able to play such protected files.

Hi Patrick
Would it be possible to get audio mp3 format working as I get this message when trying them "The format of the selected file is not supported"
I have tried most of the other formats without to many problems except ones I caused.
I got hold of several small movie files in various formats all work but one. The one that didn't may have other problems totally unrelated.
All the various testing of the camera/scanner is working well.

With Patch 8 Test 2 (and perhaps the previous one), when I scroll over a video, it flashes continuously. Is this something we can get rid of? |

Does the audio file work in QuickTime Player?

Nope. That is there to ensure that the native movie view does not crash or hang NeoOffice. You see this flickering because when the view is moved in the window, it is detached from the window and reattached at its new location as I found that Apple's native movie view is very prone to crashing during any resizing or moving.
What I am more concerned about is how it behaves in slide shows as that is really the primary use case for movies in documents. During a slide show, the movie should not move nor should the window resize so you should not see any flicker.

I've been trying to test the scanner function, but I am having a problem, which i suspect is not to do with Neo. Have Canon MP750 and Leopard with latest update. I installed the latest updates from Canon - even went to Canon USA to get their updates, but I can't get IC to scan in flatbed format: it will using the auto feeder, just not in flatbed, although it will provide a preview in that mode. The scan button remains greyed out. Scangear Starter works OK. Has anyone else struck this problem with Canon products? Or is there something I'm missing?

The mp3 files play in Quicktime 7.4 and itunes 7.6 and also other audio apps.
Most show either the Quicktime or itunes icon.
I can send a sample if needed some of the files are between 2 - 4 meg if that would be ok. |

I tested in Impress .mov, .3gp, .dv, .mp4 files. All work well in slide shows, no flicker, the movie runs fine, the window doesn't resize.
No more problem with spaces or accented characters in the file name.
Sound: I tested .mp3, .aiff, .m4a, .m4p. All OK.
Ony tested on Intel for the moment.
Great work
Thanks a lot.
Jacqueline
Edit: now tested on PPC G4. All is OK.
Sound: add .mid files OK. |

When scrolling in a presentation, the movie goes white, and then comes back when you stop scrolling. Of course, if you don't scroll, all is fine |
