I use .doc files which are text, with a couple of tables inside the content. When I select, "select all" from the edit menu to change the entire doc's font, only the table content is selected - not the whole document?
Can anyone help? |

I'm not sure if this is what's happening for you, but if your cursor is in a table cell when you choose Select All, the default behaviour is to select the entire contents of the current cell. To select the whole document's text including table contents, first place your cursor outside any tables, then choose Select All.

If i create a new file using neoffice the problem doesn't happen - it only happens when I open a document originally created in MS Word? |

Okay, that's strange. I just created a doc in Word 2004 with text, and text in tables, saved it, and then opened it in NeoOffice, and it behaved for me exactly the same way as a NeoOffice doc would.
Do you know what version of Word your word doc was saved in, on what platform - and what version of NeoOffice are you running?

It was created in Office 2008 and I'm using the latest version of Neooffice with the newest patch installed. |

Did you save the file as a ".docx" file in Office? If so, our ability to import this new Microsoft format is very experimental. Does the problem occur when you save as a .doc file (Office 2004 format)?

No, it's in normal .doc format? |

I wonder if Office 2008 has futzed the export of doc files? I don't have a copy of 2008 to test this out. Anyone else out there with 2008 who can test this out?

wouldn't suprise me - the amount of things wrong with Office 08, and Word in particular is amazing! Quite how they can release this rubbish, and charge people for it, is beyond me!
Thank God for NeoOffice is all I can say! |
