As a new NeoOffice user I was happy to find a template collection but disappointed that two templates I needed most weren't editable—or were they, I just couldn't figure out how.
The first, BlueReport, indicates it is a "read only" template. Why post it if it can't be used? Is there a way to get a text file of the styles they used in that, sort of like a CSS?
Hopefully any answers will apply to the other one CompReport, I think.
Thanks for help |

I found various links to the two templates you mentioned so it may be an issue with the source used to obtain the templates you name.
Have you tried downloading new templates or can you post a link for others to test the templates you have questioned.
Thanks. |

I found them both in the collection of the Neooffice wiki but I don't have the url now.
Would you post the links you found to those two templates? That would be helpful.
Thanks.

You may have found them here.. But I didn't have any trouble editing the Blue Report template that is there.
Lorinda
Edit: You should not, however, try to edit the table of contents; that is created automatically based on the remainer of the content. |

Thanks, Lorinda,
O.k., so that's how it works. But suppose I want to modify or even delete the TOC and just use the Front Page or some elements of the other pages. Is there a CSS type style sheet that I can access?

I don't think there is a CSS type style sheet. But there are a lot of elements you can change.
Take a look at this wiki article on Table of Contents.
You can also delete the table of contents if you don't want to use it.

Lorinda, on the OpenOffice template page that you linked in your earlier post I see
These files should be placed in your %OpenOffice.org%/user/template directory.
can you let me know more clearly wher i would do that on a mac and in Neo?
Thank you - I may try a few of them out...

I think the default place where NeoOffice stores templates is in /Users/[yourusername]/Library/Preferences/NeoOffice-2.2/user/template (From Finder select Home from the Go menu and then navigate to Library>Preferences>NeoOffice etc.) The location is user customisable.
If you can't find the templates file there, then you can check where it is by selecting Tools>Options In the Options pane click the disclosure triangle by NeoOffice and then select Paths. |

James3359 is correct.
See this wiki article for more info.
Note, however, that if you find MS Office templates you want to use, you can't just move them into this folder. The article I linked to has on section on dealing with those.

Ok. Thank you both for your help. I never looked around in there before!
Ok Template folder.
I was not using any MS stuff I have no MS stuff on any of my macs. Never will. I was referring to the OO templates from Lorinda's link.
Thanks. |

I knew you weren't talking about MS Office templates right now. But I have found some helpful MS templates on the internet and adapted them; that's why I mentioned the need for a different process for those.

FYI, I've got from a French mailing list, a link to a site from which you can download extensions, among them various templates, for OOo, thus for NeoOffice too.
