They don't say whether they're going to cut off Safari, like they will eventually do with older browsers, but it seems like they might. While it may be time for Safari to get these new features, I'm never happy when a website tries to force me to use a given browser…

Well, from the stories that I've read I don't think they're planning on cutting off Safari. They mentioned that they'll cut off the "most insecure" browsers, generally leading me to think it's more like Netscape 4, IE 5, etc....the really old versions.
The browser, unfortunately, does not increase the security of PayPal. Folks who don't actually have PayPal accounts should be fine; here we just use them as a credit card processor. If you do have a PayPal account, however, especially if it's linked to a bank account, I'd recommend spending $5 and getting the RSA security key:
It's not perfect, of course, but it does mean that even if some phisher gets your login and password they still won't get free access to your account and any associated information. I know that key's available in the US, but I think it may be worldwide.

What a bummer! I hope they can get it out to more places ASAP. I really wish everywhere that dealt with financial or other sensitive information would implement this kind of option.
