Hi all

I've just done a search on here, and it seems this issue has come up before.

I'm a newbie to NeoOffice. I've only been using it for a couple of weeks. I'm using OSX Tiger, 10.4.11, and the latest patch.

The word count feature is doing what someone mentioned at least a year ago - just not responding to changes in the word count. It's marginally better if you get it to count words in a selection, but not quite accurate. Sadly, I had to go back to MS Word to get an accurate count. Sad

This for me could be a dealbreaker, as I need a word count that doesn't involve faffing about. And a live count showing at the bottom of the window would be perfect.

thanks for any hints

Interesting, it works ok to me - it's never more than two or three words different in Word to me.

The only thing for me is that Neo does not have "including footnotes" and "excluding footnotes" feature, but i just highlight the text and this has the same effect.

Richard

edit - I just had a quick play and occasionally my selected text word count is higher than my total word count! I wonder how this is possible!

Hmm. I'm wondering if its accuracy is something to do with document type. I've been using .doc, but yesterday was using .odt, and it seemed to be behaving a bit better...
