OK. I have some answers for the two remaining issues that amayze found:

2. Comb Horizontal & Vertical effects don't erase their trailing edge properly and leave artefacts. This problem also affects the slide show itself when the slide dimensions are smaller than the screen (ie a show created on a 4:3 monitor displayed on a wide screen monitor).
I found that this behavior consistently occurs with the comb effects when using OpenOffice.org 2.2.1 so this is an OpenOffice.org bug. Fortunately, it appears that Sun Microsystems' engineers have fixed this bug in OpenOffice.org 3.0 so we will have the fix in NeoOffice 3.0 Early Access

3. Split Horizontal In ends with a black line across the slide.
With the following test patch, I think that this is fixed. Please tell me if you still see this behavior:

Thanks again for looking at this Patrick.
I'm afraid I can't download the test patch at the moment. My high speed connection (via a free wireless hotspot in the cafe next door) is not working, so I'm stuck on dial-up for the moment, and reluctant to download big files.
Will check it as soon as the cafe re-boots it modem!
Thank you so much for taking the time to do this pluby, I used the test version to do the slides for a sermon on Sunday, previously I'd had to keep my presentations to just text and no transitions on my PB G4 (1Ghz 1gb ram) but with this patch I was able to add images and have nice subtle fade ins!
Thank you so much.
