I am sorry to give you the bad news, but most likely your document is gone. When you save a document over an existing document, the existing document is discarded the moment the saving starts. In all Mac OS X applications, saving over an existing file does not make a copy of your file but, instead, overwrites your file. Once that overwrite process starts, your old file is gone.

However, if you are running Mac OS X 10.5.x Leopard and have Time Machine turned on, Time Machine may have a copy of the file that was there before you saved.

Also if you had backup turned on, the previous version of the file would be in the backup folder.

Although the "make backup copy when saving" option is off by default in NeoOffice, it does not hurt to look in the backup folder to see if any files are there. The NeoOffice backup folder that Phil is referring to is the following folder. Note: "~" means your Home folder:

~/Library/Preferences/NeoOffice-2.2/user/backup
