Can someone please help me out with what a reasonable amount would be to donate to this .org ? I know and see that this is free ware but don't want to take advantage of peoples time. So I would like to know what would be a reasonable donation from an individual who uses the software. I see that donations of $5-10 is the usual donation. Is this reasonable and should we donate on an annual basis(guessing the answer to this is yes! ) Thank You.

Any amount is helpful, and a yearly amount is even more so. If everyone who downloaded donated $5-10, I think it would be fair to say that the NeoOffice project would be doing very well. Of course, that's never going to happen.

When I first started using NeoOffice, I based my donation on what the commercial version of StarOffice cost. (StarOffice is also based on the OpenOffice.org code). Since they were comparable programs, I felt that gave me some sense of the "market value" of NeoOffice.

So you might think about how much you use NeoOffice (I use it every day), what it is "worth" to you in that context, and how much you can afford to donate.

A couple of other things for you to consider at this time:

-Due to current financial constraints, Patrick and Fran (the main developer and support provider) are only able to provide support for "large" donors. Based on the donation star chart here, I would guess that any donation of $32 upwards is considered large, but I can't say that with authority. To the best of my knowledge, volunteers are still trying to answer any support question they can, regardless of donation level, but there could come a time when we just can't cover everything.

-I believe it is the case that NeoOffice Mobile will only be available to donors once it is in its final version. I'm not sure what the donation threshold will be, and I could be remembering this wrong. My searches didn't find anything that gave me a definitive answer in that regard.

Thank u Lorinda for your reply. It was most helpful and considerate of you to take the time to reply. I don't use the program often but that's not the point, it serves a purpose for me and i will "contribute to the cause" I'll even make up for a few of the non donors!
