Using Andrew Pitonyak's "Useful Macro Information" odt file, I simply open the file and then close it. A beachball appears for a few seconds and then NeoOffice crashes.

The attached file contains the crash log as well as a link to the word processor document file that causes the crash.

Software: NeoOffice 3.0, patch 7
OS: OSX 10.5.6
Hardware: MacBook Pro, Intel processor
If you need further info, please let me know.

Regards,
Bob

Thank you for the crash log. Your crash log indicates that you have the following system lack installed:

LCC Scroll Enhancer Loader

See the instructions provided here for information on how to disable it.

Once it is disabled, does the crash still occur?

Thank you for the crash log. I can also reproduce this bug in Neooffice. But the bad news is that I can reproduce this crashing bug in OpenOffice.org 3.0.1 (which NeoOffice 3.0 is based on) as well as OpenOffice.org 3.1.1 (their latest version) so this is definitely an OpenOffice.org bug.

We normally don't fix OpenOffice.org bugs, but since this is a crashing bug and crashing bugs cause data loss, I will see if I can fix this bug.

I would also recommend that you disable the LCC Scroll Enhancer system hack using the steps in Lorinda's post as other users have found that that system hack can cause unexpected behavior in NeoOffice.

Unfortunately, no development is being done on NeoOffice 3.0 at this time and all Snow Leopard development work and any bug fixing will occur in NeoOffice 3.0.1 Early Access release.

If you are a NeoOffice 3.0.1 Early Access Program member and I am able to fix this OpenOffice.org bug, I will post a test patch that you can try when I have a fix.

However, if you are not a NeoOffice 3.0.1 Early Access member, any bug fixes that we do during the Early Access Program will be available for download NeoOffice 3.0.1 starting on 27 October 2009.

FYI: I have opened bug 3556 to track this issue.

I did as Lorinda suggested and removed the LCC hack. NeoOffice still crashes. (New crash log attached.) However, removing the LCC hack has fixed some minor buggy behavior in at least one other application. So, thank you for that information.

It appears that you have not read any of the posts that Fran and I made in this topic after Lorinda's post. Please reread all posts in this forum topic.

Hi Patrick,
Yes, I did read the other posts, but I had already removed LCC and retried NeoOffice by the time I saw the other posts, so I thought I might as well attach the new crash log anyway. I recognize that you are somewhat limited as to what you can do with the underlying OOo software.

I'll probably go back to NeoOffice 2.2.5 for the time being, as it has all of the features that I need, and has been working extremely well for me.

Thanks for all of the work that you put into this.

Regards,
Bob

The fix works fine for me, i.e. NeoOffice no longer crashes when I open and close http://www.pitonyak.org/AndrewMacro.odt.
