Has anyone found a a way to change the number of Recent Documents displayed in that menu item to more than 4, since v3.xx? The History Manager extension available for OpenOffice claims to be platform independent, but doesn't work under OSX.

Is there a way to hack the NeoOffice preferences? Smile

Do you mean File>Recent Documents? If so, I have 10 documents showing.

Since I also see 10 entries, I suspect that the reason you see only 4 is that one of more of your user preference files is corrupted or unwritable. So, the first thing to try to is to clean up your user preference files.

I would first recommend trying to clean only user preference that contains the history list. Do this by quitting NeoOffice (note: never try to edit user preference files while NeoOffice is runing), open your ~/Library/Preferences/NeoOffice-3.0/user/registry/data/org/openoffice/Office/Common.xcu file, delete all but the first and last lines, save the file, and restart NeoOffice. Your history list will be empty but hopefully it should grow as you open files.

If that does not work, then the next thing to try is to force NeoOffice to create a new set of user preference files with default values using the following steps:

1. Quit NeoOffice

2. Move the following folders if they exist to your Desktop or Trash. Note: "~" means your home folder:

~/Library/Preferences/NeoOffice-3.0
~/Library/Preferences/NeoOffice-2.2

3. Restart NeoOffice

Does either set of steps restore the history list to normal function?

Since the last line is a closing statement, I assume you mean 'delete all but the first two lines and the last line' since the first line is the XML header, and the second is the opening line?

Good catch. You are correct: delete all but the first 2 lines and the last line.

Okay, clearing the lines in that file fixed it - though I had to reset my chosen icon set Smile.

Thanks.
