That's good to hear. I think I have you and Armando's latest icons in NeoOffice 3.1.1, but if I am wrong let me know and I will update the latest that I include the NeoOffice 3.1.2 release.

I guess we'll need an updated splash image for the next release. Does the code attribution still go to Sun Microsystems, Oracle, or some other entity?

I think we should use the same attribution that LibreOffice uses in their 3.3.1 release. I say "3.3.1" because their current 3.3.0 release is really just OpenOffice.org 3.3.0 plus Novell's Go-oo patches and our past experience is that the OpenOffice.org X.X.0 releases tend to be buggier than their X.X.1 releases.

FYI. Since we are starting work on the Mac OS X 10.7 Lion issues, I expect that we will be releasing one or two versions in the first half of 2011.

We don't plan on upgrading the version of OpenOffice.org or LibreOffice that NeoOffice uses until after Lion has been released and the most important issues are fixed so but we can include any icon updates in those releases.

Do you want to include any icon updates? I know we will need to update the Planamesa copyright date to 2011 in the splash screen, but that should be the only required change.

I doubt we will be able to release anything until February so let us know if you want to change any icons.

Patrick

The splash image is no problem, I'll get to that nearer the time. As for the Akua set, I don't have anything I want to add. Of course, anyone may chip in with a suggestion and I'll be happy to look into it.

No hurry, but I now have a separate place to put the Neooffice "next release" code so whenever you have an updated splash screen with the new 2011 copyright for Planamesa, let us know and I will copy it into the NeoOffice code repository.

I'm doing the updated splash now but I am unable to find any attribution whatsoever, in the LibreOffice 3.3.1 package or on the website. Confused

Ignore my comment about LibreOffice and stick with the existing wording. Since we are using the Go-oo 3.1.1.1 code and Novell assigned all copyright Go-oo changes in that release to Sun Microsystems, our existing wording is acceptable.

We won't have to worry about changing the attribution until we upgrade to use the LibreOffice code and that will not happen until after Lion has been out and all of the major issues fixed.

Thanks, Patrick. Understood.

I did some reorganising of the splash image to freshen it up - comparison attached. Please let me know if you have any objections.

The updated splash screen looks good to me. I like that the product name and tagline are bigger and the legalese is lighter.

Legalese is harder to read now, but overall the effect is easier on the eyes.

Nobody reads the legalese anyway, except lawyer and developers Smile.

Best wishes,
Oscar

Thanks for the quick feedback, Patrick and Oscar. My thinking about the legalese was to guide the eye towards the most important information first, as well as balancing the whole composition a little more pleasingly.

Here is something a little new for the about dialog. Instead of a tiny logo I thought it might be nice to have something bigger busting out into negative space.

Your new About image looks good to me.

My NeoOffice Aqua Elements package is updated and ready to integrate. The only changes are the updated intro.bmp and about.bmp, and updated copyright notices.
