|
When I double-click on the downloaded upgrade of NeoOffice (3.1.1) it doesn't work and I get a message that says: "The following disk images couldn't be opened". Then below, in a columnar box, in the first column "Image" is listed "NeoOffice-3.1.1-Intel. AND THEN in the second column "Reason" is listed "not recognized".
Can someone help me upgrade my NeoOffice? I'm very unfamiliar with computer problem solving and need my hand held with basic instructions.
Thank you. |

This usually means that your network connection failed at some point during the download and, as a result, you only have part of the download file.
To check if that is the problem, Control-click or right-click on the downloaded .dmg file and select Get Info from the popup menu that appears. In the window that appears, expand the General item and check the Size item's value. If your download completed OK, the Size item in bytes should match the following:
Intel download = 159519272 bytes
PowerPC download = 161481826 bytes
If the Size item does not match the above, you need to try redownloading the NeoOfice installation .dmg file.
Do the above steps help?

If you're not uncomfortable with the Terminal, you may be able to use "curl" to finish the current download rather than starting a new one; see this article in the wiki.

I will do as you say and see if I had a network interruption. It's difficult for me because I have to use a 3G connection to the Internet and the download takes a couple of hours - consequently I'm more apt to get an interruption. I appreciate your help. |

The curl method I described above will probably be very helpful to you, then
