|
I suggested to someone that they try Neo and that after they install it they need to get the latest patch. They told me they could find on mention of patches. They were right. There used to be a mention and a link to patches on the download page, but it is not there (unless I missed it?)

There used to be a link because only a single version was on the download page. The problem was that people could not find the previous or Beta versions so we now have download links for all versions on the download page.
Since listing 3 different downloads takes up most of the download page, we have moved the bright yellow patch download link to the actual download page that you see immediately after the donation request page. That way, you see a link to the patch applicable to the version that you have selected to download.
In addition, when first installing NeoOffice, the automatic patch check in NeoOffice is enabled by default so that if you skipped over that link (most people do), pressing the "Download" button in the patch check dialog that appears in NeoOffice opens your browser in the patch download page for your version and processor type.

OK, I see it now. And yes, the automatic check for new updates is a nice feature of Neo. I forgot all about it. I'll relay this info to my friend so she can download and install Neo on her new Mac.
Thanks.

The automatic patch checking is definitely our most effective way of getting the news out that we have a new patch available. My feeling is that people only visit our main website when they first try NeoOffice and when the patch check notifies them that there is a new patch or version available as checking for new patches or versions would be a hassle.
For example, most likely tomorrow we will push out new patches for NeoOffice 3.1.2 and 3.2 Beta and then, for those using the default weekly patch check setting, users that use NeoOffice daily should find out above the patch sometime this week.

Thanks for the reply. You do fine work and I'm always happy to support it when financially possible with a donation toward your efforts.
