Hello
I've been using neo office for years and want to thank all the dev team.

Now there is something that should not be complicated to implement : increase the number of recent documents. Even with the new 3.2 it is still limited to 10 and I could not find any option in preferences for that (or even any tip on these forums or in google...)

thanks for adding this option, have a look at Smultron recent documents, it can be huge and it is really useful.

Thanks a lot.

I am pretty confident that it is feasible for us to increase the maximum number of files that show in the File :: Recent Documents menu. However, at least a few users have asked how to clear that menu so if we increased the maximum, I suspect that we would need to also add some way to clear the menu for users who like to periodically trim down the list of recent documents. Would you see any problem with having a "Clear Menu" menu item at the end of the list like Apple has in their Recent Documents menu?

Since this new feature request is feasible, the only other thing that we need to see is whether enough other donors also want this feature. Essentially, we fund new features by spending current donations to the implement the new feature and then, hopefully, the new feature generates new donations that replenishes the donations used to implement the new feature.

I have a pretty good idea of the amount of engineering work needed to implement this new feature. So, if at least 10 NeoOffice donors reply to this post that they also want this new feature, then we will have a pretty good level of confidence that the new feature will generate the necessary donations and I will then start working on the new feature.

Is this a feature that any other NeoOffice donors want to see added to NeoOffice? If so, please let us know.

Patrick

Thanks Patrick
A clear menu is of course also a good idea. I hope other donators will answer.

Once upon a time there was a macro that did this, but IIRC it stopped working around/after OOo 2.

Back in the day, before I realized the futility of OOo bugs, I apparently cc'd myself to the OOo bug on clearing the list Razz

It actually got a comment this morning which claims to identify the file that holds the "Recent Documents" info: Issue 37201 comment 29

This would be another nice bit of Mac OS X-ness (although it's not at the top of my list of Mac-likeness things).

I was very clear that it requires a minimum of 10 users to break even on this feature and even if yours is counted, we are only up to 4 users. That is a pretty good sign that very few users are interested in this new feature.

Frankly, I don't like your tone. I never said it was simple and I do not appreciate people who obviously haven't done the work proclaiming it simple.
