Over the last few days, several Mac App Store users discovered the following bug in NeoOffice: after saving an .odp presentation file, all bullet characters will be hidden when the file is reopened in NeoOffice, OpenOffice, or LibreOffice. Fortunately, the bullet characters are not lost. NeoOffice's underlying OpenOffice code only hides, not removes, the bullet characters.

I have fixed this OpenOffice bug in the following test patches so if you are experiencing this bug, install one of the following test patches and reopen your .odp file. After installing one of the test patches, the hidden bullets in your .odp file should now be visible.

Important note: this bug also exists in OpenOffice and LibreOffice so if you need to open the .odp file in OpenOffice or LibreOffice, resave the file in NeoOffice first. This will ensure that this bug is not triggered when you open your .odp file in OpenOffice or LibreOffice:

NeoOffice 2014.3:

NeoOffice 2014.3 Free Edition:

NeoOffice 3.4.1:

For those who are curious, this bug is caused by NeoOffice's underlying OpenOffice code misinterpreting our Mac App Store version numbers. When you save a file, the version of NeoOffice that you are using is included in the file. The OpenOffice code interprets NeoOffice 2013 and 2014 as the same to as NeoOffice 2.x. This causes the OpenOffice code to incorrectly assume that your .odp file was saved in the very old OpenOffice 2.2 format.

FYI. I have included the fix for this bug in NeoOffice 2014.5 which is available in Apple's Mac App Store.

I have also included the fix for this bug in NeoOffice 3.4.1 Patch 9 which can be downloaded from the NeoOffice 3.4.1 patch download page.
