Hello,

I've used NeoO in the last Alpha version without problem under OSX3.7
And when I want to install the last Beta, here's the message (in french Wink when I launch the install :

"NeoOfficeJ ne peut pas être installé sur cet ordinateur.
NeoOffice/J ne peut pas être installé sur cet ordinateur."

... an idea ?

françois.

Bizarre, it should work fine on any OS above 10.2. Try removing any previous installations first (/Applications/NeoOfficeJ.app) adn any NeoOfficeJ-1.1 preferences in your ~/Library directory. I've not actually ever experienced problems installing myself, so these are really just shots in the dark.

Well OPENSTEP, I have removed all NeoO prefs and all old versions : maybe there's something else tricky in a dark place on my computer : perhaps a file who don't contain "neooffice in is name.

What sort of verification does the "NeoOfficeJ.pkg" make on my computer?

thanks.

The only other thing I can think of aside from prefs and app would be the receipts themselves, living in /Library/Receipts/NeoOfficeJ.pkg. I'm not honestly sure how the installer uses these Receipts. I thought it was just to display an "Upgrade" instead of an "Install" button but it may be something deeper then that. Does removing the receipt allow you to install?

"Usually" we see that message when the BSD subsystem is not installed (or its receipt is missing). Perhaps something happened to that receipt since you installed Alpha 2? Can you verify that you have a BSD.pkg file in your /Library/Receipts folder?

Right Sardisson !!!
Last week I have deleted all .pkg from my /Library/Receipts folder ... :/
Bad action I presume ...
I will try to download again the BSD.pkg.

Thanks for all - I will post the result of this action soon.

hi françois

Just to say: if you deleted everything from your receipts folder, you won't be able to run Repair Permissions anymore either. You need as a minimum the 2 files called BaseSystem.pkg & Essentials.pkg for Repair Permissions to work. If you haven't kept backups of this folder before deleting those files, let me know which OSX version you're usng and I can probably point you to somewhere you can download copies from.

The receipts files are important to OSX as these tell it about the correct permissions and versions of installed applications and the OS. I've done the same thing myself in the past - deleting them - and it's tempting to save some drive space that way. Apple should consider renaming the folder to something less apparently 'disposable' than a receipt, like PermissionsLog, hein?

Hi yoxi and thanks for your very clear explanation.

That's true that I was searching a few Mo on my hard drive when I deleted files in my receipts folder :/

My OS is 10.3.7 (the last update) - I have an other Mac with the same configuration : is it possible that I copy some .pkg from there ? (hope that I haven't deleted is receipts folder Wink)

bye.

You can certainly copy the 3 receipt files mentioned above - I'm not sure what happens with receipt files specific to applications - whether they have paths saved in them or whatever - so I can't advise you on whether you can copy other receipt files too. Maybe someone here knows? If not, ask over at www.macfixitforums.com.
