I wrote that article! It was based on numerous questions and discussions we had at the OOo booth at Comdex. The article was published on osViews.com, madpenguin.org and pclinuxonline.com. MacSlash and MacBytes linked to it. You should have seen the spike in hits my website received after publication! (www.solidoffice.com)
Many people were surprised to learn of the Java version, both from that article and at Comdex. I hope I did not put anyone in the spotlight who wasn't yet ready for it, but one person from Germany emailed me asking how to participate in the OSX development of OOo - I sent him to this website, so hopefully he'll be here soon.
