Potential hanging bug in patch check

Since I felt that we were close to a Patch 1 release for NeoOffice 3.0 Early Access, I was testing the patch update feature to ensure that everything still works. OpenOffice.org 3.0 has many changes to the patch check code so the patch checking has always been fussy in our test builds.

While the patch checking logic works, I found a nasty hanging bug when all of the following conditions are true:

1. There is a newer patch or version on our website
2. The automatic patch checking is running

In these cases, NeoOffice will hang immediately after the patch download dialog opens.

I will include the fix in the next patch (it is already in the latest test patch). However, since the conditions that trigger the hanging bug will occur when the main installer launches NeoOffice 3.0 Early Access before they have an opportunity to install Patch 1, I think the safest course of action to do is to put out a new main installer instead of only a patch.

So, in the next 24 to 48 hours we will release the following to NeoOffice 3.0 Early Access Program members:

- NeoOffice 3.0 Early Access 2
- NeoOffice 3.0 Early Access 2 Patch 0

For those who have already installed NeoOffice 3.0 Early Access, I recommend that you check the Early Access Program Patch and Release Announcements forum and when there is a new post announcing the release of NeoOffice 3.0 Early Access 2, download and install NeoOffice 3.0 Early Access 2 Patch 0 from the NeoOffice Early Access Program patch download page.
