I'm sure a few have seen this (slanted) article floating around from George Ou comparing OpenOffice and Microsoft Office. Apparently he's out poking for hits by fanning a nonexistent flame by comparing two vastly different programs.
I've been using NeoOffice and OpenOffice (and StarOffice before that) for a long time now. Anyone with any sort of knowledge of these programs knows that they are not a suite of programs but integrated programs. Once loaded you have access to every module and feature quickly and effortlessly. Not so with Office, which is the name of a suite of independent applications.
Take two similarly configured computers and load every possible Office program. Now load OpenOffice or NeoOffice on the second computer. That would be a more rational and reasonable comparison. I'd bet the memory footprint and performance hit would be about the same.
I use and support the NeoOffice efforts because this application is that good. It deserves far more attention and praise than it gets. I read these forums through every day and am amazed and the level of help and speed of development. Bravo and thank you!
