Well, here is a Google translation and if you feel like you need further details, just ask
I 'read' through the translation and it is very interesting to note that Eric stated 'There is much work to do' and with Apple's assistance he would put his students to work on this project. Hmmm. I don't think that he really wants to let go of the porting of OpenOffice 2.0 to MacOSX to those who could really help him. Sad
And one final comment: If I wanted X11, I would use Yellow Dog, not MacOSX.

Well, I find Yellow Dog Linux pretty sucks
I'm keen on Ubuntu
I did not know there was a Ubuntu for Mac...I had MAJOR problems installing Ubuntu onto an IBM Thinkpad (yes I still have it around and hope to install MacIntel on it.) Hopefully, the install process for Mac is easier.
Also, I read through to your comment. Nice comments on NeoOffice.

Right now, there is no Aqua version, even if we have made a lot of progress with something that is not X11 (Note from the translator: Who is "we" and what is this something?)

Next, it will probably be very long : event though a non-X11 version might work, it would not be a "Mac OS X" application with a behaviour like the Mac Users know -- Cocoa apps for instance. The problem comes from the fact that OpenOffice.org is a complete framework (it makes its own windows, buttons, menues, etc.) as Cocoa does.
We will then have to mix two frameworks with different working concepts (procedural vs. object) and it will not give something very stable. Some parts may have to be thoroughly rewrought ( a lot of code is involved). It will take time and a lot of resources.

Le plus important, c’est de mettre les choses à plat, de faire ce qu’il faut, le mieux possible, et dans l’ordre : il s’agit d’un logiciel libre.
The most important is to lay everything on the table, to do what's needed, as well as we can and in the right order : it is free software.

The rest of the interview is also interesting, but I found this particularely relevant.
James, could you correct your message please, it messes the forum layout.
Thanks,
Val
Fixed with the proper quotation. Sometimes my hands do strange things like add a '}' character instead of the end bracket ']' . Thus my quotes get 'mangled' and end up making things look strange. Also I would like to thank Patrick for the initial fix which corrected the look of the forum.
Back to our discussion.
If you want a complete translation, I think I'll be able to do it or if lga wants to do so, I don't mind
It would be nice to have a complete, understandable translation. As I stated above, Google (using Bablefish) has difficulties with technical words and phrases. The translation stopped just above your comment, but I was able to use my liguistic skills to figure out what you said.

Val, if you have time, go ahead. If you don't, I can write something but not before tomorrow night.
