On all earlier versions of Open Office it would show my installed printers and i could just pick the one i wanted and it would print. However, with version 2.0 when i click on the "Print" it comes up with the print screen and shows "Generic Printer". It will not print and it will not show my printers and i see no way to add a printer.

I am on a Power Mac 2.0 with 4 gigs ram and OS X 10.4.3

Anyone know what the problem is and a fix?

Definitely not an expert on this, but... Ooo 2.0 freshly installed on my iMac also showed only generic printer. However, the first time I actually printed a document, the print dialogue listed all installed printers. After that, it has always listed all the printers. See if that works for you.

Thanks for the response, but it didn't work for me. It still shows generic printer on my system. I have an Hp 4550 color laser that it simply refuses to see or print to. I have a Hp 2420 black laser that finally it will print to, though it still shows Generic Printer. I have printed about 5 pages to that printer and it still shows Generic... I guess you were lucky.

Bummer cause i like version 2 otherwise...

unfortunatly i am no expert on this stuff...

but, you can always save to pdf and print from preview. yes, it does an one more step into the whole mess, but it gives you an option until we can figure it out.

Well i'm certainly no expert either, i just find it odd that all previous versions had no trouble in finding my installed printers and all of a sudden the v2 can't find them. Hopefully the next step up will fix this problem. If i had a couple of weird ball printers i could understand it, but a Hp4550 and an Hp 2420 are both common use business printers.
