OK, I banned that IP. If you see any more smut let me know and I'll start taking down subnets.

Ed, I've now deleted spam from 213.179.233.126 twice (not sure if others are logging the IPs of spam they delete), so it might be a candidate for banning.

/me was "amused" to also delete spam today from a username I deleted spam from at WB earlier this week....

Ed, ppp[ip-number-here].pppoe.mtu-net.ru users have been producing a lot of spam lately (duplicate messages, but different IPs). If you can figure out the netblock for them, you might want to ban it.

Usually we get to them pretty quickly, what with lots of Council members around the globe. If it's been a few hours since you first saw the post and it's still there, you can post here and someone will zap it...but if it's still there, it's likely because no one's online, not that we've all missed the post Wink

Yes, there are a whole bunch of people who help weed out the spam postings. It's really what helps keep the forums clean and allows guest posting to continue to be enabled. Many thanks to all of them!

Unfortunately we humans can't be quick enough to snuff out all of the spam instantaneously, so users who are using the RSS feed for the forums may unfortunately see some of it a bit more frequently than forum browsers.

Ed, I just bit-bucketed 3 spam messages (in Chinese, no less!) from 60.6.88.125.

I suggest you ban that IP (or netblock Wink)

This thread seems to be written to every month or so; does anyone think it should be made a sitcky, just like the list of known hackers ?

Nah, stickying it would save us all of 2 seconds in finding it, and we're already suffering from sticky overload Wink
