On the Wiki's main page, you can read This is the official wiki for NeoOffice, the Mac OS X port of OpenOffice.org, the ultimate open-source office suite; featuring a word processor, spreadsheet, presentation, drawing software, and much more.

www.neooffice.org used to feature a similar comment/statement, something like "OpenOffice.org for Mac OS X". Both imply, in a sense, that NeoOffice is the Mac OS X port of OOo (as in "official"). Patrick removed the latter from neooffice.org, and I think we should replace the Wiki's text with something less arguable. We don't want to give the OOo/X11 team a reason to accuse us of lying (and I'm not very comfortable with it anyway).

the wiki is for both openoffice.org x11 and neooffice, and is geared towards the users of those programs, not the developers.

I totally agree with Jake on the wiki...it's a general resource Smile Perhaps we need to just change that comma to an "and", e.g. "NeoOffice and the Mac OS X port of OpenOffice.org," ? I think Samwise's point is just to help avoid any misreading, nothing else.

Ah! OpenOffice.org is be the ultimate open-source office suite, not NeoOffice.

See, I didn't get the meaning when I first read it. Really, really unclear. IMO, adding "and" would help make it clearer.

smokey,

thinking out loud in an totally unrelated post...

do you think we should make some blank templates in the wiki? it would be an attempt to commonize the pages, rather than re-create layout each time... hmm...

not sure how it would work though, having a 'content' page and a 'display' page would NOT be preffered (meaning like the front page is laid out, PITA)

(thinking noises)

I fixed the French version and (partialled) edited the German one, but someone will have to fix the rest (and perhaps fix my own mistakes, although I've tried to only change what I could translate correctly - so I hope what I've done is OK).

Now it reads as it's the official Wiki for both NeoOffice and OOo/X11. As long as the X11 team doesn't mind or care ...

+1

Still a bit funny wording - It the "Official Wiki for NeoOffice" ... AND a very good resource for OOo/X11?

Don't know how to make it better than it is, after the "and" update.

Philip (WHERE are all these Users, and people with Positive Opinions on the other sites, coming from!?!? Wink )

\ official Wiki for NeoOffice, and OOo/X11 support? Question

the x11 team considers the neowiki an 'outside' resource and therefor unofficial.

however, the neowiki pre-dates the x11 team, so i could care less.

it used to read:

this is the official wiki for not one, but THREE office suites for Mac, NeoOffice, NeoOffice/J and OpenOffice.org X11
