Nothing I do works. Xfree86, X11, and freetype for install libfreetype. Is there a secret to getting this installed? I cannot get Open office installed otherwise.

Can you post the directory listing of which versions are in your /usr/X11R6/lib directory? Do the following in a Terminal:
Code: |
cd /usr/X11R6/lib
ls *freetype*
|
Once we have that we can figure out what we need to install (or potentially remove)

Ed,
Here is what I have managed to install. Looks like something is there, yet OOo doesn't think it is.
Chris
[G4-Server:~] chris% cd /usr/x11r6/lib
[G4-Server:/usr/x11r6/lib] chris% ls *freetype*
libfreetype.6.0.dylib libfreetype.6.3.dylib libfreetype.dylib
libfreetype.6.2.dylib libfreetype.6.dylib
libfreetype.6.3.5.dylib libfreetype.a
[G4-Server:/usr/x11r6/lib] chris% |

OK, try moving the "6.0" and "6.2" numbered libraries out of the /usr/X11R6/lib directory into a temporary location and then running the installer. The presence of those older versions may be what is futzing up the installer. It does excplicitly check for some of those to detect older XFree86 4.2.x versions, and those detection rules seem to be incorrect.

Removing the old versions took care of it. Of course I got the hand at the converting font, but it seems to have everything it needs.
