What happens when you drag your .doc document on TextEdit icon?

The file is opened without problem.
It's a simple file .doc with few text and title ...
It's the same with a .xls doc.
I've also tried to wirte an OpenDocument and save it.
And after, open it by clicking on it, it's still the same result :
NeoOffice opens with a "New document" blank
My macbookpro is quiet new and I didn't install Ms Office yet ...
Very strange. |

This is quite odd. I don't have any trouble opening .doc or .xls files, or .odt files, and this is the first I've heard of this kind of problem.
Do I understand correctly that when the file "opens," it says "untitled" in the title bar?
What version of NeoOffice are you running? Which patch number?
I would suggest you look through the Troubleshooting Tips page in the wiki. In particular, I would probably start with moving/renaming preferences. |

Yes, your best bet is to move aside your /Users/your_name/Library/Preferences/NeoOffice-2.1 folder and relaunch NeoOffice.
See this page in the wiki.
If that doesn't work, try to create a new user account and launch NeoOffice from that account.

Thanks for the suggestion.
Yes it opens a document called "New Document" and it's a blank document.
It appens in each case :
I open a .xls file
I open a .doc file
I open a "OpenDocument" made 2 minutes before with NeoOffice.
I can't try now to delete pref, but I will try it tonight.
The version I have is NeoOffice 2.3, it's the number on the icon, but when I lauch it, I see during the loading "NeoOffice 2.2" ...
I will reply tonight. |

NeoOffice 2.3???
The current version is NeoOffice 2.1.
Since July 23 you can get the new version but only via the EAP. So it's very unlikely that you see NeoOffice 2.2.

I will check everything tonight.
You're probably right about the version. |

The issue you're experiencing (opening an existing document from outside the app opens a blank document instead) is a known bug of the second snapshot of OpenOffice.org Aqua 2.3 (which also displays "OpenOffice.org 2.2" at launch time); are you sure you aren't using OpenOffice.org ?
If the application you're using is really named "NeoOffice", where did you get it from ? |

Good catch Samwise. Maybe some group of people are testing OOo Aqua and are being sent to us for support?

NeoOfice has a custom slpashscreen which is a graphic; but what about OOo - is the default OOo splash a graphic from the start or is it generated by the build system from the application name ? The original poster seems to think that he is using NeoOffice, so either he/she is lying or someone made a build of OOo Aqua with the NeoOffice name ??? |

Don't be so harsh.
More likely just confused. |

Since OOo uses BMP images that they have to manually update each time they change the version, my guess is that the user 1) has both NeoOffice and OOo Aqua installed on their machine and 2) OOo Aqua opened the file instead of NeoOffice because OOo Aqua was installed later than NeoOffice.
I'll assume the best and assume that the user merely saw the version number flash by and didn't really notice that it said OpenOffice.
