PostPosted: Tue Oct 02, 2007 11:32 am    Post subject: NeoOffice support for Thunderbird addressbook

I was under the impression that NeoOffice (as well as OpenOffice) could use the Thunderbird address book.
I tried using File/Wizards/Address data source/
I check "Thunderbird". I get the messsage
The connection to the external data source could not be established. No SDBC driver was found for the give URL.
A connecton for the following URL was requested:
sdbc:address:thunderbird.

My Thunderbird profile is under users/hjd/library/Thunderbird/default/bunch of letters/

Any ideas as to how to make NeoOffice point to where the addressbook resides?

According to this wiki article, Thunderbird does not support the required commands to be accessible to NeoOffice.

Sorry. Sad

The wiki appears to be aimed at the other direction. I don't want to create an attachment in T-bird, using NeoOffice.
I want NeoOffice to use the T-bird address book for it's addresses.
What appears to be happening is that NeoOffice can't seem to find the address book. Question

Lorinda,

Actually, the NeoWiki article describes a different issue: sending e-mail attachments to Thunderbird.

The issue that the original poster is talking about is a valid one and that functionality should work. I was shocked to find that the OpenOffice.org build has always disabled this feature on Mac OS X.

hjd,

Can you file a bug in Bugzilla about this and when I fix the bug I will post a test patch that you can try out.

Have just entered this into the Bugzilla. Thanks.

FYI to all those want Thunderbird/Mozilla address book support: I will be posting a test patch with this functionality enabled (OpenOffice.org has always disabled it on Mac OS X) so add yourself to the CC: list in bug 2645 to get notified when I post the test patch.

After installing the patch, I now can no longer print. All pages print blank. They preview in NeoOffice preview ok, but if you use the print preview for the MacOS, the preview is blank. In either case, the page finally prints blank; any document at all.

Yeah, we found this in a separate bug. I fixed it minutes after posting the test patch and have posted a newer replacement test patch in bug 2647 that should fix printing.
