|
Hi,
I'm new to NeoOffice and I wonder if there is a quick way to structure a writer document (with headlines). In M$ Word there is a special view for this (structure view? don't know the englisch translation). I learned that NeoOffice is missing this view. So what can I do? Are there keyboard-shortcuts to create headlines of different levels or something similar?
thanks

I think what you're referring to is called Outline View in English. OpenOffice/NeoOffice doesn't have this, and I don't know if the upcoming v3 of OpenOffice has anything like that in it. Meanwhile there athings you can do from the Navigator window, see this discussion in the OOo Community Forum...

You can approximate this feature by using the Heading paragraph styles for the various levels of your outlines and then using the Navigator.
The underlined words are links that will take you to Neowiki articles on those subjects.

hi, thanks for your hints. At the moment I do this things exactly like Lorinda described. But it's too slow using the mouse. Is there a way to use the keyboard to trigger the heading paragraph styles?
thanks

Yes, you can use the keyboard to trigger the styles.
Go to the Tools menu and choose Customize....
In the window that appears, click on Keyboard
In the Category column, click on Styles (the last entry, probably)
Then click on Paragraph Styles
In the Function Column, choose the style you want to assign a keyboard shortcut to.
In the Shortcut keys box, select the shortcut key you want to use (you are limited to the key combinations listed in that box).
Click on the Modify button
Note that if you have a laptop and you choose one of the function keys, you may need to hold down the fn key (bottom left on my keyboard) for the keys to work properly. This is because the Function keys are also used for sound and brightness controls; the exact results here depend on the settings Apple's Keyboard and Mouse System Preferences.
