|
i don't know if this is a bug or my mistake.
i want import data for tab or comma separated textfiles into an empty spreadsheet.
- i create a new spredsheet,
- go to 'Insert' -> 'External Data...',
- a dialog apears. i press on the '...' button and choose a file.
- a second dialog apears, where i can define seperaror symbols and set the format for my colums. my data apears in this dialog and ican format it.
- after pressing ok, the first diaolg reapears with a url to my textfile (like this file:///Dokumente/010204.txt). but the OK button is not active.
i cannot press ok and for that i cannot import my data.
what can i do? i have tried this with several versions of neooffice, the results were allways the same. |

Try to simply "open" the file, and in the open pane select the appropriate kind; something (from memory) like "CSV, tab separated". Then, it imports as you expect. I've done it many times. |

Using Open... is a work-around, but the failure of the Insert command is still a bug. I tried this in OOo 1.1.2 X11 and the behaviour is just the same, so it's not Neo/J's problem. Issuezulla issue 28077 on the main OOo site mentions a task for the documentation team to look at this area, but that's all I found that looked at all relevant using Insert/csv and Insert/file as queries. Someone with access to OOo on Windows or Linux - or expertise in prising useful information out of issuezilla - would need to try this to determine if it is a problem with the Mac port or is more general.

You might try a query at www.oooforum.org (general OOo support, 99% Win and Linux folks) for a quick answer to the first part....

@ Max_Barel
Open does not work for me, because i have comma seperated text files. i defnetly need the 'instert' -> 'external data...' option. |
