Have you tried running qlmanage -r in Terminal after reinstalling Patch 2?

Oops, I left that out of my report. Yes, I tried that after every (re)install step, including Patch-2, to no avail Sad

Can you try pressing Command-Alt-Escape and then clicking the Relaunch Finder button? Does that change anything?

OK. Is it any better after you reboot? If not, do you have OpenOffice.org installed or RetroOffice installed on your machine?

The key is to do both the lsregister and then the qlmanage -r steps. However, if there are any out of date Info.plist installs from any of our software prior to the test patch, LaunchServices could decide to give those priority over the newer UTIs. Apple has no documentation as to what gets chosen, unfortunately, and relying on the rules that were the norm in the past apparently no longer apply. I hate undocumented conflict resolution rules!

In addition to checking Retro and Neo 3.0 EAPB and pre Neo 2.2.5 TP installs you also should check for any lingering NeoLight independent installs in /Library/Spotlight and also check and potentially remove any OpenOffice.org Mac OS X property lists or Spotlight extensions. I forget when they removed the org.oasis UTIs; we did not as that would trigger reindexing for all Tiger users at the time (an expensive operation) but due to changes in how Leopard handles the conflict resolution between multiple property lists we now have no choice. The difficulty is now in tracking down which software is defining the bogus UTIs and modifying it. If it's software other than ours, unfortunately it's totally beyond our control Sad I just wish Apple had an official UTI registry like they used to have for creator and filetype codes.

OK, I threw away RetroOffice 2.2.5 and NeoOffice 2.2.4 (I always keep a copy around for checking for regressions), emptied the trash, and ran qlmanage -r and Quick Look is working properly for all sorts of odt documents with Neo 2.2.5 Patch-2 (no rebooting required, though earlier today I did reboot between every patch (re)installation).

OK. Can you now try reinstalling Patch 2 Test 3 and see what happens? We really need to figure this upgrade issue out before Neo 3.0 goes out.

Patch-2 Test-3 appears not to break anything this time around (with or without running qlmanage -r) Smile

Hi,

just wanted to give my 2 Cent to the discussion.

I also had garbled Quicklook Previews, but only if an .ODT file had been saved with Openoffice. The Neooffice saved files worked great in Quicklook.

Today, i installed 2.2.5 Patch 2, and the Problem vanished. Without any additional terminal commands or rebootings. It just worked.

Maybe this helps finding the solution.

Cheers,

Fox

BTW: Thank you very, very much for Neooffice!

Just to make sure that the changes we have made work. Can anyone confirm that Cover Flow view still works for non-NeoOffice ODF documents after installing the following test patch? Nothing has changed in this test patch but I want to verify that the patch installation process does not cause any Cover Flow breakage:

Intel:

PowerPC:
