In true OOo fashion, they've copied an idea from someone else and made the copy so poor it's disgusting. It's slow, its pages are not very informative, has an ugly site icon, and, worst of all, doesn't bother to tell you what versions of OpenOffice.org the extension supports!
How can you tell if the extension you are interested in (once you determine what said extension might actually do) is compatible with the version of OpenOffice.org you have? Does it work with 2.2 and newer? 2.4? Only 3.0? Spin the wheel!
Someone please go buy Sun a new photocopier, one that does produce lines, dots, and dark and light spots all over the copies

Plus it also doesn't say whether extensions work in user install mode or if they need to be installed shared etc. That is a problem for some as well
In the end I really think they're trying to mimic Firefox and are really pushing the "Extension" concept too far. It's great for a development environment, but it's not something "cool" and "hip". I mean...clip art is an Extension? Isn't it just a clip art bundle? Though the clever thing that some folks have found is that they're using Extensions as a clever way toget around their own licensing restrictions...I read somewhere that some of the Sun extensions use GPL code. If that's true, it's kind of a funny way to try to sneak GPL code for features into an LGPL product without changing their licensing (or closed source considering SO for that matter).
