I'm new to assigning macros to eg. buttons. The macro works, but how do I get it work at the push of the button. I've specified 'button events' 'key' or 'mouse button' released, but macro doesn't work. The button properties are quite daunting cf Excel.X.

These were the steps I took:
1. View>Toolbars>Form controls> then added a button' to the Calc sheet.
2. R-clicked Calc expecting to find 'add macro' which there wasn't so clicked 'control>events> and tried adding my macro to both 'button release' and 'mouse button release'. But this achieved nothing.

Started to try that out then had a crash. After the crash the button_macro worked. So I tried again, same problem. When I left (or right) click the button, format handles appears instead of the button being active. Equally, if I close the file, re-open, the button has become active+ macro works, but Right clicking doesn't permit me to change settings.
Incidentally, after clicking the little triange the dialogue expands in size; what should it look like when 'activated'.

There are two modes in NeoOffice when working with form controls: design mode and regular mode. I sense that you are trying to do regular mode actions when in design mode and vice versa. So let me explain what you can do in each mode.
Whenin design mode, you can change the form control settings like size, title, macros assigned to it, etc. but the form control will not respond to any mouse or key events. In regular mode, the form control will respond to mouse and key events, but you cannot change any settings.
The mode that you are in when the reopen the file is whatever mode you were in when you saved the file. The idea is that when you are finished editing the settings of form controls, you switch from design mode to regular mode and save the file. Then, when you or anyone else opens the file, they will be in regular mode.
