I frequently copy text from .doc or .odt documents in NeoOffice and paste them into an Accordance User Tool. (Accordance is a Bible software program).
Sometime during the last few months, I started having the following issue: if I paste two or more paragraphs of text into Accordance, I get little rectangles at the end of each paragraph.
These do not appear if I paste the same text into Text Edit. Furthermore, I can paste from Neo into Text Edit, then copy from Text Edit and paste into Accordance without seeing the little rectangles.
I am guessing that this is a problem with Accordance, not NeoOffice, and that it is related to the changes Patrick made in response to the following posts:
The timing for the changes in behavior seems right.
While I know the fault probably lies with Accordance, I thought I should post it here, mostly so I know what to tell the Accordance folks about the source of the problem. (The technical explanations in those threads were a bit beyond me).
Accordance does try to remain (mostly) back compatible to Mac OS 7, primarily for the sake of Windows users who run a Mac emulator in order to run Accordance. That said, Accordance for Macs is OSX native.

This sounds like Accordance does not like the Unix newline character that NeoOffice uses. This is another case of software that is still using the old pre-2000 Mac Classic '\r' newline character instead of the Mac OS X '\n' newline character.

Thanks for a such a swift reply, Patrick. Your answer gave me the data I needed (in a form I could sufficiently understand) to pass the issue on the the folks at Accordance.
In the process, I discovered a work around, at least for those of us who also use Butler. I have Butler configured to remember the last 7 clipboard contents. If the text I want to paste is in the most recent clipboard (i.e. the one pasted when I hit Command-V), the rectangles will appear.
If, however, the contents are in one of the other 6 "former" clipboard contents
"compartments," I can paste them into Accordance and not have the rectangles appear.
The same thing might prove true for some of the other clipboard managers out there as well.
