When I copy text in a Word for Mac 2011 document and go to paste it into the Writer document there is no paste or paste special option shown.

We only have Mac Office 2008 so is the Office 2011 document open in NeoOffice or are you copying from within Office 2011? If it is the first case, can you attach a sample document and tell me which object to select and copy in the document to reproduce what you see?

I just tried with a random text document from Word 2011 to NeoOffice 3.3beta, and I could use the paste special icons in my toolbar just fine. I didn't try the context menu.

It might be a machine or document specific issue...

That said, I did get a crash soon after, but I will open a separate thread for it Wink.

Working now. It may be something as stupid as the batteries in the wireless keyboard

I suspect that depending on what you select in Word 2011, Word 2011 is putting some non-standard data formats on the Mac OS X pasteboard or Word 2011 is failing to put anything onto the pasteboard. Essentially, copy and pasting between applications in nearly all cases involves passing data in simple "least common denominator" formats so if you cannot paste into the TextEdit application either, then that is most likely the cause of what you are seeing.

NeoOffice Writer can only understand plain Unicode text, RTF text, and HTML data formats. So if an application does not put any one of those formats on the pasteboard when you copy, NeoOffice's Paste and Paste Special menus will be disabled as the pasteboard is empty or contains data is formats that NeoOffice cannot understand.
