|
Hello, knowledgeble ones ,
I would like to create an odt file with my thesis, that has page numbers starting from the third page in the document (ie not on the front page and on the abstract). How do I do this?
Many thanks,

The way to do that is described on this page in Neowiki.
If you need more explanations, feel free to post again in this thread.

Depending on the formatting you need for your thesis, you might find the thesis template and additions available on this page.
I've not worked with that template at all, I just know it exists.

OK, I keep having some problems with this. I created a page style with no footer and try to apply it to the first few pages of the document, but I can't stop it from changing the whole document into that page style.
I did put a page break in, and I have tried to change the "next style" thing. When I try the "next style" thing, it only allows me to change the first two pages of the document into my new page style, and then refuses to change the other two pages I would also need to change. Any suggestions much appreciated. Thank you! |

You could try creating sections and putting your first and remaining parts in separate sections - this allows for differing styles, columns etc.

What format is the document being saved as? odt, .doc, or something else? That might make a difference.
Also, you might take a look at this post with step by step directions for getting page styles to stick. (in that case the issue was columns.)
The original poster in that thread found that copying and pasting the content into a new document allowed them to apply page styles correctly. Hopefully nothing that drastic is needed for yours.
