Go into the X11 preferences and make the following settings:

Emulate 3-button mouse: CHECKED
Use System Keyboard Layout: CHECKED
Enable Keyboard Shortcuts under X11: UNCHECKED

This will ensure that your keybindings and mouse buttons work properly.

Then, create a .xinitrc file in each user's home dir that contains the line

exec quartz-wm

...with a blank line following (in other words, make sure that the file ends with a newline).

This will ensure that X11 doesn't open up an xterm every time it launches.
