Is it possible to drag cell contents to other cells similar to the way it works with Excel? If not is it necessary to simply cut and paste whenever cell contents need to be relocated? will drag and place ever be implemented?

Fotal:
In all of the builds I have run, this does happen. I will have to work with NeoOffice 1.2 Alpha Patch 3 to see if it is still possible. What I was able to do is select the area I wanted to move (using Cmd+click) and then continue to hold the mouse down and move it around the screen. As a matter of fact, I've had to undo this action when I accidentally did so on more than one occassion (and I run a rather large multipage linked spreadsheet for testing purposes.) This will have to wait until I finish work with OpenOffice 2.0 builds.

James, My preferences are set to create/save as an excel document. I tried to create a new spread sheet, I entered numbers in some and words in others. I used my mouse to select a cell, held it down and tried to drag. nothing but a highlighted range of cells. I tried your key combination and the same thing happens. My mac is running os10.4.3, and the newest java update. Thanks for your help.

I will definately have to look into this. I've been working with several builds of OpenOffice/NeoOffice. This was happening so often that I was going to complain about it.
if I have understand the problem, you have to select the cell, click and move the cursor to the cell above (or below) keeping down the mouse button and when the cell above or below became black go back with cursor to the first one. now the original cell is black, you can de-click, and click again to move the cell.
this is a trick, I do not know why neooffice do not select the cell for move it at the first time.
