For what it's worth - the main advantage of Iannz' Find/Replace is that it can do something OOo's find/replace can't do at all, which is search & replace a string that has a para or line break in the middle of that string.
This is because the OOo document parsing happens on a paragraph-by-paragraph basis, and OOo just won't recognise a line/para break as being part of a search string, because it applies the search/replace to one para at a time - Iannz' macro gets around this (at some cost to speed, but with a huge useability increase).
So if you just want to replace all para breaks with tabs, OOo's f/r is fine - but if you want to replace all instances of e.g.
tab-linebreak-fish with
tab-fish-linebreak-fish-tab
you couldn't do this without Iannz' macro.
I hope that constitutes some kind of useful explanation - it's come out a bit complicated, I know, but I had a dialogue with Iannz about all this so I'm quasi-in-the-know, sort of...
