|
Hello,
can someone please tell me, what are the changes in the
* Alpha 4 Patch 2
* Alpha 4 Patch 3
I could nowhere find any type of "release notes"...
From what I read in the forums, I think
* Alpha 4 Patch 1 was to reduce startup time
Is this correct?
Thank you in advance!
Best Regards,
WOP |

Hello
I recovered Patrick's emails :
Patch 1 contains the following two significant performance enhancements:
- Image handling - This patch contains significant reductions in
memory usage when images are scaled or transparent images are
drawn. This reduction in memory usage should be most noticeable
for users have have limited system memory.
- Startup time - While NeoOffice's splash screen is visible,
NeoOffice queries your machine's available fonts. Prior to this
patch, this querying caused Mac OS X to fully load all fonts.
This caused NeoOffice to appear to hang while the splash screen
is showing for several seconds (or even several minutes if you
have thousands of fonts) the first time that NeoOffice was
launched after booting your machine. In this patch, NeoOffice no
longer forces loading of unloaded fonts. This change not only
eliminates the hanging while the splash screen is showing, but
it frees up system memory that was used by the Mac OS X font
server.
Patch 1 also contains fixes for the following bugs found by NeoOffice users:
- Impossible to save in PowerPoint format in Intel machines
- Dragging and dropping text or images from other applications into
NeoOffice does not work
Patch 2
- Optional hyphen shortcut not working
- New entry in autocorrection list will not save
Patch 3
- Menu shortcuts that use a hyphen not working
- Minor kashida issues with final and medial meem
- Zapfino ligatures not correctly shown
- Spurious dialogs appearing when installing package using Package
Manager on PowerPC machines

If you're not signed up for the Update list, you can manually check here for the release notes.
