|
I'm having trouble managing my images in a Writer document. In Word, I used to create a text box, then paste or insert an image into it as a character. Then I could move the text box behind or in front of the document text.
In Writer, I've inserted an image, but I cannot get it to go *behind* the text. (I want a small bit of the text to overlay the image.) I currently have the picture properties set Wrap - Through and Anchor - to page
I've tried the text box "fix" but it won't let me paste an image into a text box.
What can I do? (Neooffice 2.1, patch 7)
tia,

As a workaround, you might try putting the text you want in front of the picture in a textbox/frame and put that over the picture..
Unless you want the picture and a background to a page or something, in which case that would not work..
Best wishes,

You can also try doing your layout in Draw
I tested the send to back/front in NeoOffice 2.1 and OOo 2.1 and neither one responds to layering an image behind text
if you have text in a frame; even with the frame having no fill; it is not transparent.
whereas when I tried this in Draw; I was able to get a transparent box for text and layer an image behind the text
Still checking as I think I've missed something too. |

OK; I think I figured it out in Writer
Anchor image "to character"
Double-click on image; Picture pop-up window appears; select Wrap tab and select "through" icon; then on right of window is a section titled "Options" and check "in Background"
the image now appears behind the text |
