If you are talking about the disabled drop down list in the bottom right corner of the Tools :: Media Player window, I know what that is. I'll enable that in my next test patch.

It allows scaling of the movie clip. Probably the same as the View > Zoom menu.

That's probably why it says view when I place the mouse pointer over it Wink

But I'm intrigued: where did you learn what it does?

I have added the necessary code to enable the zoom dropdown list in the following test patch.

One thing to note: when you open a file with a movie in it, the size of the movie object will be larger in this test patch. While implementing the zoom dropdown, I found that the OOo code was scaling the movie downward by default and now when you insert a movie, the default size of the movie object will be the same size as it would appear in QuickTime Player.

Edit: replaced original Patch 8 links with Patch 10 links.

Thanks Patrick. It works.

However the "Scaled" item in the drop-down doesn't scale, but sets the size to 100%.

"Scaled" sets it to the size of the object bounds. If you insert a movie and don't resize the object bounds, the object bounds are 100% so "scaled" and "100%" will be identical. Resize the object bounds and then "scaled" will be different.

I have uploaded another test patch. In this test patch, the following changes have been made:

1. When setting a movie to "Scaled" in a document where View :: Zoom was set to "Page Width", the size of the movie was incorrect.

2. I found the code that handles QuickTime's problem with Java and RAGE 128 graphics cards in my last test patch to be incompatible with Java on Mac OS X 10.3.9. So, sadly, I had to disable video for 10.3.9 users.

3. As a result of disabling support for Mac OS X 10.3.9, I was able to allow a movie or sound file to continue playing while resizing a window. The limitation in previous test patches was there only to avoid a deadlocking problem with Java on Mac OS X 10.3.9.

I hate to admit defeat, but after days of trying to find a solution, it is apparent that we can either support video for all Macs with the RAGE 128 graphics cards (G3 and G4 machines) or support Macs running 10.4.x or higher. Since Tiger runs on most G3 and G4 machines that have these graphics cards, I felt that disabling video for Mac OS X 10.3.9 was the option the affected the least number of users.

Mac OS X 10.3.9 users will still be able to play sound as with the current version of NeoOffice and once they upgrade to 10.4.x or 10.5.x, video will automatically become enabled.

FYI. Since I just released NeoOffice 2.2.2 Patch 9, I have posted a new test patch called Patch 9 Test 1 so that users can reinstall the official Patch 9 after installing the latest test patch.

I have replaced all the links in this forum topic to point to the latest Patch 9 test patch so as new visitors to this topic don't get missing links.

The new test patch can be downloaded from the following URLs:

PowerPC:

Intel:

Edit: replaced original Patch 9 links with Patch 10 links.

I'm late to the party, but I tried adding a movie to a Presentation today. That worked just fine.

But when I closed the presentation (which I did not save since i was just testing), I ended up with a window with a title of "NeoOffice". The window has a short toolbar, containing only the New, Open, and Help icons (not one of my custom or standard toolbars). There is no document in the window, just the dark grey background. The red close button at the top left has a black "unsaved changes" dot in it, but clicking on the red dot does not close the window. (Nor Does Window>Close Window). The choices under the menus look like those (newly) available when there is no open window.

Quitting Neo worked fine.

Patch 10 test 1

Lorinda

P.S. I cannot reproduce this...I'll let you know if it happens again.

Lorinda,

FYI. The behavior that you are describing is related to the the File :: Recent Documents feature described here. The window that you are seeing is the empty default window and the bug that you have found is that I am failing to reset the window to its hidden state.

If you are able reproduce it, can you post something in the File :: Recent Documents topic?

Thanks, Patrick. After I wrote it, I wondered if maybe it was more related to the other thread.
