Hi,
When I click the NeoOffice icon in the dock it always opens a blank doc in the word processor.
I only use the spreadsheet.
Can I set the dock icon to open calc as a default instead of the word processor?
Thanks! |

Hi dwest100. Welcome to Trinity forums. Hope you enjoy using NeoOffice. I imagine that the answer to your question is contained in the NeoWiki at this page:
NeoOffice_Launch_Shortcuts
I reckon NOMu is probably what you want.

Go to Tools - Options - Load/Save - General - Default file format - Document type, and choose Spreadsheet from the drop-down menu.

Hmm... I just tried eccparis' suggestion and it doesn't work for me. Neo 2.2.3 patch 4, OS 10.4.11, PPC.
Obviously, I need to install patch 5. I'll do so and post back to see if that makes any difference.
Lorinda
Edit: correct Neo version |

I'm afraid eccparis has misunderstood the function of the Default file format section in the preferences.
What that does is: for each doc type you choose in the left-hand list (i.e. Text document, Spreadsheet) it allows you to choose from the right-hand list what is the default document type to save your document in (i.e. NeoOffice format, rtf, MS Office format etc.) if you choose Save rather than Save As.
There is no way from within NeoOffice itself to set what the default blank doc module is (i.e. writer, calc, impress, draw) when you launch NeoOffice. Peter's links to the wiki and NOMu above are what you need to achieve this. Enjoy!

Patch 5 makes no difference. I noticed this setting reverts to Writer each time.
eccparis, can you confirm that this works for you?
Does it work for anyone else?
I'm wondering if maybe those settings don't relate to what blank document opens when Neo does, but what format each type of document saves as.

Duh... And I thought I was so brilliant when I 'managed' to have NeoOffice start up on a new default template that I just set up!
Sorry to have misled anyone here.
