For school, I regularly work in Word (.doc) files with tables.

I need to click in different table cells and type to take notes.

I'm very annoyed that the "table toolbar" and occasionally the "bullets and numbering toolbar" pop up as floating toolbars when I click in different cells in the document.

Is there any way to disable this ... other than docking additional toolbars beyond standard and formatting to the top of the screen??

Thanks.

In the past, if you closed the toolbars, they wouldn't pop up again (you'd have to select them from the menu to see them again), but I thought I remembered seeing some OOo change related to this, so I'm not positive this is still the case in 3.1.1.

Yes, but in Word they don't pop up at all.

I am using Mac OSX 10.6

I am not sure what sardisson was talking about, but you can disable this behavior very easily.

To disable the display of the Tables toolbar when you click in a table, click in a table, wait for the Table toolbar to appear, and then uncheck the View :: Toolbars :: Table menu item.

After you do that, does the Table toolbar stop appearing?

It seems to have worked.

So I just have to do this once right?

I tried closing the document, closing Neo Office, opening the first doc with tables, and opening another.

That preference seems to be set now?

Am I correct that I just had to turn off the Table toolbar once and it is set forever??

Yes. That is correct. That menu item will remain unchecked even if you quit and restart NeoOffice.
