In NeoOffice 3.1.1 Calc, when you select a background color for a range of cells, the cell's background is drawn above the grid, so the cell boundaries cannot be seen.

This also happens in both Go-oo 3.1.1 and the latest Go-oo 3.2.1 but not in vanilla OOo builds.

Neo 3.0.2 is unaffected; I did not try Go-oo 3.0.1.

I don't know if it's a feature but I find it most annoying, so I wouldn't mind if we could get rid of it.

Attached are a sample spreadsheet demonstrating the issue, and two screen captures.

I will try to find and remove the Go-oo code that causes the behavior in your second screen snapshot. I had removed this Go-oo "make it look like Excel on Windows" feature starting in NeoOffice 3.0.1 but apparently I did not completely find and remove all of the code for this feature from NeoOffice 3.1.1.

FYI: I have created bug 3611 to track this issue.

I think I have found and removed this Go-oo feature. Can you install the following test patch and tell us if the background color now behaves like NeoOffice 3.0.2 and OpenOffice.org 3.1.1?:

Intel:

PowerPC:

The issue I reported is indeed fixed, but I'm seeing a new, even more annoying issue: basically, my spreadsheet's contents seem to redraw all over the place.

Screen captures attached.

I think I found the cause of the drawing artifacts. I had manually reversed the Go-oo modification and I found that I had reversed only a portion of the modified lines.

I think that I have now reversed the entire Go-oo modification. Can you install the following test patch and tell us if the background color now behaves like NeoOffice 3.0.2 and OpenOffice.org 3.1.1?:

Thanks. As far as I can see, with Patch 1 Test 3, NeoOffice 3.1.1 now behaves like 3.0.2 Smile

FYI. I have included the fix in NeoOffice 3.1.1 Patch 2. The patch can be downloaded from the NeoOffice patch download page.
