I was adding a graph to a 2nd sheet in calc referring to a range in the 1st sheet when NeoOffice crashed (when I was in the middle of defining the ranges). See attached log - which is no doubt peppered with haxies and suchlike, but which may still yield useful info for you.

Is there any way to reproduce this crash? If so, can you list the steps? Also, if you can reproduce the crash, can you install the following test patch and tell us if the crashing stops? I have fixed bug 3618 a little while ago and your crash log looks very similar to that bug's crash log:

Intel:

PowerPC:

Yes, crash repeatable:
• create sheet with columns of figures
• add 2nd sheet, switch focus to that sheet
• click on Chart button in toolbar
• click on Line chart-type in the chart wizard (if you get that far)
• crash

patch-test-19 doesn't fix this.

Thank you for the steps. Using your steps, I can consistently reproduce this crashing bug in NeoOffice 3.1.1 even when native text highlighting is turned off. Since I cannot reproduce it in my Go-oo build or OpenOffice.org 3.1.1, there is definitely a bug in our code.

I will investigate this bug further and see if I can fix it. Once I have a fix, I will post a test patch for you to try.

I have created bug 3623 to track this issue.

I think that I have fixed this crashing bug. It was caused by code that I had backported from a newer version of OpenOffice.org to fix bug 3609. By rolling back parts of that backported code, I was able to fix this crashing bug while preserving the fix for bug 3609.

Can you install the following test patch and tell us if the bug is fixed for you?:

Intel:
http://joe.neooffice.org/test/NeoOffice-3.1.1-Patch-1-Test-20-Intel.dmg

PowerPC:
http://joe.neooffice.org/test/NeoOffice-3.1.1-Patch-1-Test-20-PowerPC.dmg

FYI, I was having a similar problem after dowlloading the last update with some charts crashing when pasting new data into them, on two different Macs. I found this thread, downloaded and installed the patch and it seems to have cured my problems as well.

If you need my crash log or more details, just let me know, but life seems good again. Very Happy
Thanks!
Chuck

FYI. I have included the fix in NeoOffice 3.1.1 Patch 2. The patch can be downloaded from the NeoOffice patch download page.
