I'm trying to save a document under another name on my new macbook pro and can't -- I keep getting a message saying that the file doesn't exist. I've downloaded the latest version of neoffice. I'm also using the latest version of OS X as well. Can someoe help me with what's going on?

Does this problem also occur if you try saving to your Home folder? Also, what kind of file are you saving? An .odt, .ods, .odp, .doc, .xls, .ppt, or some other type of file?

If you can save to your Home folder, then the likely problem is that you do not have write permissions to the folder that you are trying to write to. If that is the case, can you go to the Finder, navigate to the folder that you are unable to save to, and right-click or Control-click on the folder name? In the popup menu that appears, select the Get Info option. In the window that appears, can you tell us what is shown in the "Locked" checkbox in the General section and tell us what is in the "You can" listbox in the Ownership & Permissions section?

That was the problem -- I didn't realize I had to change the permissions for it (never done this before.) I figured it out after I posted. I'll definitely be back when/if I have more questions.
