Congratulations on reaching another milestone. Really pleased to see the reduction in PDF size and the future-proofing which is being built into this release.

On the new features page, under "Expanded font support", this sentence construction seems to be missing something in the explanation?

"While users that only use the fonts that Apple bundles with Mac OS X, Apple's "CoreText" functions provides improved text layout and rendering for many Windows OpenType fonts."

Trust this helps.

Ray

Good catch. I had to reread that paragraph a few times before I could see that a good chunk of text was obviously missing. Sad

I have modified that paragraph on the website. Let us know you have any better wording. My wording still feels a bit verbose.

I think that sounds good. I can think of ways to make it sound more verbose, but not less Wink

It is hard not to be verbose where there is a lot to say! There is one small typo in the first sentence 'fuctions' should be 'functions'.

Is this text any better? (It isn't any shorter)
Quote:
NeoOffice now uses Apple's "CoreText" text layout and rendering functions instead of the older "ATSUI" functions used by OpenOffice.org and previous versions of NeoOffice. Users who only use standard OS X fonts are not likely to see any change. The "CoreText" functions, however, provide improved text layout and rendering for many Windows OpenType fonts.

I have corrected the typo and tweaked the wording some more by adding a link to Apple's CoreText overview page. Also, I replaced the "standard fonts" phrase with "CoreText is twice as fast as ATSUI" performance improvement noted on Apple's CoreText overview page.

Hope that section reads better now.

Much clearer and therefore better. Much more positive and I particularly appreciate the avoidance of the sense of negativity induced by the previous inclusion of "Users who only use standard OS X fonts are not likely to see any change..."

Great job!
